Bologna, Italy and the New Life Church (Nuova Vita)

The City
Bologna, Italy is a large, urban city and the capital of the province which has a total population of 1,000,000 people. It is an important center for commerce, banking and industry. The University of Bologna has over 80,000 students and the oldest medical school in Europe. It is a major hub for both highways and train lines.

The Church
La Chiesa Cristiana Evangelica “Nuova Vita” (New Life Evangelical Church) is a vibrant, growing body of believers who have a great vision to reach Bologna, Italy and the world with the gospel. Our weekly ministries include: Sunday worship and Sunday School; discipleship cell groups; prayer meeting; a youth group for teenagers and leadership training. Many of these ministries are now led by Italian believers. In 2008 the New Life church will be turned over to Italian leadership.

The Future
The missionaries and Italians in the New Life church have a church planting vision. Prayer and plans are under way to start a church in the city of Imola. This is a city of 64,000 people about 30 kilometers from Bologna. It has almost no gospel witness. An evangelistic bible study is presently being conducted in San Giovanni in Persiceto. A township of Bologna with a population of 23,000 people with no gospel witness.
For the fist time in 60 years Youth For Christ has come into Italy. One of the leaders of New Life Church is directing the YFC work and has opened a YFC center in Bologna. A new center is also planned to Palermo, Italy.
